Discovering joy in the hard places

Locked Rooms

John 20:19-23

Here the disciples have locked the doors in fear. Jesus, of course, shows up and says peace be with you.

Sometimes we become afraid like the disciples. We metaphorically lock our doors. We’re afraid of a challenge, so we stay where we are, we don’t listen to the Lord’s calling.

We’re afraid of what people will think so we stay inside, avoid meeting them. And, often, when we are afraid, we may still talk to God and reach out to Him for help. We may feel like we’re still locked up in a room though, because nothing changes, we continue to fear, continue to be like a deer caught in headlights.

The disciples door was locked but Jesus came in and gave them peace. Do not doubt that He will do the same for you in your fear and troubles.
