Joyful Ruins

Discovering joy in the hard places

Master Weaver

The beautiful tapestry

You weave

means every hurt was

not wasted

for me or for them

Your hands are magic

as they bring good

for all Your children

even when they hurt one another

You do not desire such means

but they happen none the less

And You see them before they did

knowing the beauty You will

make for us from them

You saw the beauty of the cross

even as You pleaded the Father

to remove such hurt from Your path

And yet without it

where would we be?

Without Peter’s denial

where would the church be?

Without James and John’s

pride, asking to be seated

next to You

would we know John

as the disciple whom You loved?

There is a tapestry You weave

not one sin, hurt, loss

not one moment

is left out by the Weaver

There is no hurt that goes

Unused

The hurt itself may not be just

but God can take it

and bring justice

from it

It is not for us to understand

Though we can see His plan

our own story is not done

Our hurts and paths

our sins and wants

are still being weaved together

so let us be patient

with the Weaver

and wonder at His work

Recalling that these hurts

will be used by Him

to create such a beautiful

artwork

And without them

who knows what our

tapestry would look like?
