Joyful Ruins

Discovering joy in the hard places

You are my Home

I look for home

In so many places

So many faces

Sometimes I almost feel it

A child smiles

A friend embraces

A sunset alight

They warm my soul

They take me somewhere

Some unknown

A place far away

And yet so close

It’s fleeting

But beautiful

Yet it’s not the person

The action

The nature

Or object

That holds that place of home

Because the same friend

Might disappoint

Might feel unsafe

And the sunset

Won’t be the same

The next day

These temporary moments

They can turn on a dime

Changing like the waves in the wind

Leaving me empty

Broken

Lonely

And yet Home can be found

In one place always

In one face always

When I ponder Your love

When I know You are there

When I see what You’ve done

And I remember You care

My eyes fill with tears

And my heart is full

It feels like I’m home

When I think of You
