I did not know

I’d be fighting

the same battle

repeatedly

That has been the surprise

because I thought

progress looked like

different steps

different battles

and a clear path to victory

but what I learned

was that

the repeated battles

were intentional

because

each time

I found myself

in the same battle

I also found myself

stronger

The road did not grow easier

but activating my faith did

the battle may have not changed
