Joyful Ruins

Discovering joy in the hard places

The Tears Between Us

I’ve learned to honor the tears that fall

from the eyes of another

or my very own

I honor them by letting them fall

and reading their message

Tears will tell me

someone is soft at heart

and needs a gentle touch

They remind me

I am moved by small beauties

and that is a gift

Tears sing out the pain

many of us are unwilling to express

Silent words

they reveal to us hidden aches

we did not know we had

And tears from our tired bodies

invite us to hold ourselves and breathe

lay down and rest our humanity

Tears will tell us what

another person means

to see their face

or hear their name

and cry

communicates their impact on your life

I do not believe there is a real tear

that falls

that does not mean something

God games them to us

to speak at times we cannot

and then

He catches them all
