We can ask as many questions as we want but the only way to know the LORD is to know Him.
When Nathaniel asked Jesus who He was, Jesus said, “Come and see.”
The Psalms say, “Tase and see that the Lord is good.”
Much of my time is spent on figuring things out, trying to work out the formula, answer the questions and understand everything I can.
But as often as I may read about the ocean, listen to recorded sounds of it, understand the composition of its salt water, I will never know the ocean until I experience it, until I see it and wade into it.
What is scary about experiencing anything is, that the way of true experience is to let go of those questions, all the head knowledge, and the figuring out.
I believe that is one of the major obstacles we face in experiencing God.
I want to know why, how, when, far too often.
Iread the Bible, sermons, books to understand Him better. I spend more time figuring Him out rather than letting go and experiencing Him.
Perhaps that is hard for you to understand and sounds very trite. “Just let go and you will experience God.”
I don’t believe in trite answers. Anything in this world worth having is complex, layered, and unique for each individual. I don’t think if you just let go, BAM!, you will experience God. I believe we all are experiencing God all the time, but we are too busy looking for Him in the wrong places.
That is why I think if we let go of knowing in a head way and slow down and look, we may just start to discover Him in every day places loving us with the greatest Love.
