Joyful Ruins

Discovering joy in the hard places

In the End

In the ending

I wonder to myself

did it matter?

Did I matter?

And a small part or me says,

Remember when

you sat beside the lonely

you held a space to listen

Remember the high fives

the hugs you gave

the books you read

Remember how many times

you heard their stories

and questions

Do you remember

those wild innocent grins

pointed towards you?

those steering a canoe

and shouting, “THIS IS THE BEST!”

You do not have to make

a tidal wave

to matter

It’s the ordinary acts

of every day

that makes this time

and yourself

matter

So

does it matter?

YES

do you matter?

Absolutely
