Joyful Ruins

Discovering joy in the hard places

Deserving

The other day

I jokingly said

you don’t deserve me

That was not the voice

of confidence

but fear and insecurity

The truth is

you do deserve me

and I deserve you

And deserving is a stupid work

It signifies earning

I did not karmically

earn you

nor you, I

Instead

we belong with one another

we find gratitude between each other

we create safety and joy

There is no place for deserving

or undeserving

because there’s no place

for measuring

Just finding

loving

growing

belonging
