Joyful Ruins

Discovering joy in the hard places

Scenic Gratitude

What places I have seen…..

  • The valleys of Yellowstone
    • Wide swaths of grass speckled with far away bison herds
    • winding rivers bordered with pines and boulders

  • The Tetons and Jenny Lake
    • clearest of clear waters, the sounds of the water lapping against the smooth grey pebbled shore
    • those picture perfect snow capped three, standing tall
  • The meadows and aspens of Colorado
    • A golden highway and paradise, lined with sunshine clapping leaves and pale limbs
    • A creek, along which barely a trail runs, purples, reds, blues of flowers, scattered along it
  • Sedona, oh Sedona
    • the moment you arrive in car and see red rock everywhere
    • and Oak Creek, the canyon all around you while you sit on a rock in the cool water, letting it flow over you as you smell the sweet pine and silt
  • Montana Audubon Center
    • the pond, where waters reflect the changing seasons
    • the Yellowstone River, that rushes in Spring and Fall, but crystallizes with magical ice in the winter
  • Nova Scotia
    • What better world to live in than one with rocky beaches and forests together
  • Oklahoma
    • prairies, I’ve seen them in Minnesota too and Texas, the sea of grass blowing in the wind like a beautiful green ocean
  • The Desert
    • Nothing more magical, especially after the rain, the regally tall cacti, the creosote, the Palo Verde when it blossoms like golden dew drops falling all around you
  • My Park, Saratoga
    • the man made lake, after rain, is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, a glossy still reflection, another world
    • My tree, one I sit under and look up to feel the beauty of life
  • My Father’s yard
    • the sea of yellow and orange wildflowers in the front, people stop to take pictures
    • the oasis backyard with shading trees and pockets of secret gardens

So fortunate in my 32 years and these are not all I have seen. And this is just the scenerey.
