Discovering joy in the hard places

He Holds my Hand

I don’t need to know today

what may come beyond the bend

but I can take one step of faith

knowing One holds it all

He did not promise

no troubles or pain

He does not tell me

my fortunes

nor does He show me

the full path ahead

He offers His hand

instead

Come walk with Me

He says

With each step

whether big or small

He holds me up

He keeps me tall

and when I freeze or fall

He’s there to sing

He’s there to love

He’s there to help me to my feet

And moving forward

He doesn’t push me

He doesn’t leave me fearful

or ignore my needs

He pauses

He whispers

He changes me

So when I get back up

it’s with new strength

new sight

And I walk again

holding His hand

It does not matter

how many times

I freeze or fall again

He is steadfast in His love

patient towards my growth

He is Emmanuel in my weakness

I may not know what the future holds

but I do know the One who holds my hand

and that is enough

to take the next step
